Goals from Perry Somers and Garry Starr gave St John’s Wood Tigers a 2‐1 win over London Maccabi Lions in the Nathan Horwitz MMFL Division 2 Cup, sponsored by Atlantis Travel. Marc Morris registered for Lions in the first half.
A Nick Collins double earned defending champions Brady A a crucial 2‐1 win over title rivals North London
Raiders in Division One. Wayne Davidson replied for Raiders.
And a solitary goal from Steve Faye helped leaders Glenthorne United A extend their lead at the top of the table to four points following a hard-earn victory over Waldaf Town.
In Division 2, Brady B and Glenthorne B played out a thrilling 3‐3 draw, with Brain Deal scoring twice for Brady, only to see Glenthorne respond with goals from Jason Levy (2) and Neil
Richards. But with just five minutes remaining, Mike Lee hit a 20‐yard equaliser to give Brady a share of the spoils.
And there was late drama as as EDRS Stonegrove completed a stunning comeback to deny Glenthorne C. The Thornes forged ahead in the first half with goals from Gary Swerner and Nick Pitch, but EDRS staged a second-half fightback with strikes from Nigel Conway and Tony Platman, and a last‐minute winner direct from a corner, from player-manager Ian Leader, which took EDRS to the top table.
