Google founders, Bloomberg among Forbes billionaires

The founders of Google and Hungarian-born financier George Soros are among the 50 richest people on the planet.

Forbes magazine has released its annual list of the world’s billionaires, topped for the second consecutive year by Mexico’s Carlos Slim.

The highest placed Jewish person on the list was Larry Ellison, the founder of software communications company Oracle.

American Apparel founder faces sex abuse charges

The founder of clothing chain American Apparel has been accused of sexual abuse by a former employee who is seeking £160 million.

Dov Charney, who comes from a Canadian Jewish family, created the popular and edgy clothing chain in 1991 when he was 22. Still its CEO, the brand now has stores worldwide including eight in the UK.

Galliano's Jewish lawyer: It could happen to anyone

John Galliano’s Jewish lawyer has defended the disgraced fashion designer as someone dedicated to “tolerance, openness, love and mutual respect”.

Stephane Zerbib, who has acted as Mr Galliano's legal adviser for seven years, has also represented the family of captured Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit and a group of Israelis accused of spying on Iran.

America’s happiest Jew is not Oscar winner Natalie Portman or the newly elected Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel.

In fact, the happiest Jew in the United States isn’t anybody in the public eye – it’s a Chinese-American Jewish businessman from Hawaii.

Experts have announced that statistically speaking a 65-year-old called Alvin Wong should be happier than anyone else in the country.

Screening a film about the Holocaust in Tehran

Iranian audiences will have the chance to watch a film about the Holocaust next week thanks to an initiative by a French anti-racism group.

Education about the Nazi atrocities is minimal at best in a country whose president has publicly denied the Holocaust, but from Monday Claude Lanzmann’s 1985 documentary Shoah will be screened on an Iranian satellite channel.

Charlie Sheen fired from TV show for 'moral turpitude'

Actor Charlie Sheen has officially lost his primetime television role after producers announced that he had been fired from the sitcom, Two and a Half Men, for good.

The decision comes after the series was put on hold in the wake of Mr Sheen’s increasingly bizarre behaviour and alleged drug abuse.

John Galliano, Charlie Sheen discuss their Jewish roots

Former Two and a half Men actor Charlie Sheen has claimed he has a Jewish mother, while disgraced fashion designer John Galliano is said to be obsessed with his “Jewish” roots.

Mr Sheen, who last week was accused of “borderline antisemitism” by the Anti-Defamation League following comments about his Jewish manager, said he was proud of his Jewish background.
