Anne Frank's Amsterdam brought to life with mobile App
Visitors to Amsterdam can now follow in the footsteps of the city's famous teenage diarist Anne Frank with the help of a mobile phone application.
The Anne's Amsterdam app, available from this week, offers tourists the chance to follow a map pinpointing locations where Anne and her friends spent time before the Nazi invasion of the Netherlands, including her school and the places she recalled in her diary of life in hiding.
Users can access photographs and stories as well as film footage to build a link between the city's history and its present, from images of the scenes as German troops marched into the Dutch capital in 1940. The app also includes previously unpublished eyewitness accounts of life under the Nazis.
This July marks 70 years since the Frank family went into hiding. Anne and her sister Margot died of t yphus after they were deported to Bergen - Belsen concentration camp.
