The writer of the Academy Award-winning film about Facebook is considering writing a biopic about Apple founder Steve Jobs.

Aaron Sorkin, who was given the Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar for The Social Network earlier this year, has previously written scripts about the lives of Congressman Charlie Wilson and baseball manager Billy Beane. He is best known as the deviser of the TV series, The West Wing.

He told Entertainment Weekly that he had been approached by Sony to work on a film version of the authorised biography of Steve Jobs by former Time editor Walter Isaacson .

"It's something I'm strongly considering," he said, adding that he was currently reading the book.

"Right now I'm just in the thinking-about-it stages. It's a really big movie and it's going to be a great movie - no matter who writes it."

He said of Mr Jobs: "He was a great entrepreneur, he was a great artist, a great thinker,"

It is believed that Sony has already paid around £1 million for the rights to the book, which was published just weeks after Mr Jobs died at the age of 56.
