Ipad users can now take advantage of their cutting-edge technology to "kick some Nazi a**".

For the bargain price of $1.99 owners of the Apple devices can fire lasers at Nazi's attacking the earth from advanced spacecrafts. Players of the "Iron Sky: The Last Territory" game are tasked with defending the earth and destroying its enemies.

According to the mythology of the game, before the end of the Holocaust the Nazis landed specially developed advanced spacecrafts "on the dark side of the moon".

In the intervening period they have built an underground city and developed many war machines, giving them technology far "beyond our imagination".

"They dream of taking over the earth," said the game's creators, a company called Ziiso. "Now, they are coming, will we defeat them?"

Surprisingly, the subject matter is not the most controversial part of the game. The title comes from an as-yet-unreleased sci-fi film along the same lines, and its creators said the "Iron Sky" game is an unauthorised copy. They accused the developers of using their designsand characters, and stealing the plot and tagline.

The film's director, Timo Vuorensola, said he was angry about the "intellectual property grab" and scam.

"These people are riding on the coat tails of our hard work and taking money from unsuspecting fans who might think they are funding the film by buying the game."

Mr Vuorensola said he had reported Ziiso to the Apple authorities.
