It takes an especially soulful diva to get all four X Factor judges clapping - but 49-year-old Jennifer Phillips managed it.

The part-time carer, who has made it through to the "bootcamp" stage of the ITV talent show, but she will have to juggle rehearsing songs for Simon Cowell with performing with the London-based simchah band, Neshama.

He’s the daddy of all things showbiz – and now Simon Cowell has fathered a baby boy with Jewish-American socialite Lauren Silverman.

The music mogul, 54, jetted from London to New York to be by Ms Silverman’s side at the birth in the Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan last Friday - Valentine’s Day - at 10 45pm.

Music mogul Simon Cowell has boosted the Israeli Army with a sizeable donation at a gala dinner in Los Angeles.

The X Factor chief gave a sum thought to be in the region of £150,000 at the annual fundraising event hosted by the American Friends of the IDF.
