Wizo Week cash boost

Wizo's annual Jewish Women's Week campaign has this year raised almost £250,000 for the charity's welfare work in Israel. One thousand volunteers made the collections in Jewish neighbourhoods throughout the country.

In its 67th year, Jewish Women's Week is the only Jewish charity project with government authorisation for a door-to-door collection.


Wizo send £1.7m to Israel

Wizo UK sent £1.7 million to Israel in the the past year in support of 100 projects aiding vulnerable families and children, the organisation reported to its annual general meeting.

New Board of Deputies chief executive Gillian Merron was guest speaker at the event, discussing her background and the moments which shaped her career.

Leeds Wizo rebrands

Three Leeds Wizo groups have undergone a merger and rebranding in a bid to increase membership.

Leeds Wizo 3000, Chaverot and Hannah Senesh groups are to come under one umbrella and be known as Leeds Wizo Aviv. Wizo member Elissa Winston explained: “The amalgamation will offer us a bigger membership and hopefully generate more ideas and events.”

Wizo gets Berger's vote

Wizo raises £1.75m for Israel

Wizo UK has sent £1.75 million to Israel over the past year in support of its 100 welfare projects.

The fundraising total was announced at the women’s charity’s annual meeting, held at St John’s Wood Synagogue.

The AGM also saw the election of Jill Shaw as chair, succeeding Loraine Warren. Ms Shaw lives in Stanmore and has been involved in Wizo activities for many years.
