Netanyahu star of American advert campaign

Israel’s Prime Minster Benjamin Netanyahu is the star of a new US advert which warns of the risk of a nuclear Iran.

The television advert, produced by independent group Secure America Now, shows edited clips of a speech the Prime Minister made last week in Jerusalem.

"The fact is that every day that passes, Iran gets closer and closer to nuclear bombs," he says.

Romney says Palestinians 'committed to destruction of Israel'

Secret footage of Mitt Romney was released on Tuesday in which he describes the Palestinians as “committed to the destruction and elimination of Israel”.

The film, posted on the website of the left-leaning US magazine Mother Jones, showed Mr Romney speaking at a $50,000-a-plate private fundraiser in Florida in May.

Until I went to live and work in the US some 12 years ago my experience of Yanks was confined to meeting them at conferences and spending time as a tourist in their midst. The US is a vast country. Most of its citizens do not have passports and so have never ventured beyond its borders.

Rabbinical support for Obama growing

Over 600 rabbis from all denominations across the US have declared that they will back President Obama in the forthcoming elections as part of the "Rabbis for Obama" scheme. This is double the number of rabbis who were involved when the group was founded in 2008.
