New chapters join frat pack furniture

The rise of Jewish fraternities on British campuses is set to continue following two substantial successes in Leeds and Manchester in the past month.

Chapters of the Alpha Epsilon Pi (AEPi) fraternity have been set up across the country in the past two years, offering Jewish students a mix of social, educational and charitable sessions and activities.

Challenge is on to be best 'Jewniversity'

The first ever inter-university Jewish quiz will come to a climax next week with the final of Jewniversity Challenge.

The Union of Jewish Students’ competition has travelled the country in an attempt to find the brainiest group of young Jews.

Four regional heats have featured 27 teams competing for a place in the final, to be played in Nottingham on Wednesday, March 6.

Campus Notebook: Manchester Booze for Jews

● Manchester JSoc’s annual Booze for Jews party attracted more than 150 students from across the country.

The event was one of a series of sessions which took place under the “Manchester’s Big Weekend” banner and included a Friday night dinner and Shabbat activities.

The weekend had a “space” theme and was attended by students from JSocs in Leeds, Nottingham and other cities.

Oxford students reject Israel boycott proposal

Students at Oxford University have rejected a proposed boycott of Israel.

A motion proposing the student union join the global boycott, divestment and sanctions movement was rejected by 69 votes to 10, with 15 abstentions. If successful it would have been put to the National Union of Students conference in April.

Board: Middlesex University failing Jewish students

Middlesex University is failing to meet its duty of care to Jewish students in a situation that has become “intolerable”, the Board of Deputies has claimed.

Board vice-president Jonathan Arkush said the university’s repeated hosting of anti-Israel events had allowed “hate speech” to flourish on its Hendon campus in north west London.

I looked beyond the stereotypes to love LSE

Campus notebook: Leeds students launch video campaign

● Students from Leeds JSoc have set up a video campaign to remember victims of terrorist attacks on Israel and to combat anti-Israel activity on campus.

The Justice for January’s victims film features JSoc members displaying different dates from the month and stating how many people were killed in terrorist acts in Israel on that date during the past 20 years.

A lot to digest ­– and I don’t enjoy cooking

It is so different from home life, how I miss not having to cook every night, the dishwasher, sky satellite and other home comforts. To all those waiting to move away from home, do not take them for granted, you will miss them.
