French pupils' fears in wake of Toulouse

French Jewry "may never recover" from the shock of the murders of three children and a rabbi in Toulouse last month, a French head-teacher fears.

New security measures are being implemented across France by the Fonds Social Juif Unifié, whose chairman, Baron Rothschild, is now organising funding for security at every Jewish school in France.

Toulouse widow lights candle at Israel memorial ceremony

The widow of the rabbi murdered in last month's shooting at a Jewish school in Toulouse has taken part in a ceremony marking Israel's day of remembrance for its fallen.

Eva Sandler lit the memorial candle at a Jewish Agency ceremony in Jerusalem, held a little over a month after her husband and two sons were gunned down by Islamist Mohammed Merah.

Ukrainian Jew flown to Israel after assault

A Ukrainian man who was apparently attacked because he was identifiably Jewish has been flown to Israel for medical treatment.

Yeshivah student Aharon Alexander Gorshonov, was said to have been beaten up after he left the synagogue in Kiev on second night seder wearing a kippah.

Cameron: Toulouse a reminder Pesach search for freedom not over

The Prime Minister has sent his wishes to British Jews for a "very happy and peaceful Pesach".

David Cameron, speaking just over a fortnight after an Islamist gunman murdered three children and a rabbi outside the Ozar Hatorah Jewish School in France, noted that the festival marked the "release from slavery and the liberation of a people from tyranny".

Algeria says no to Toulouse gunman Merah burial

Algeria has reportedly refused permission for the Islamist gunman Mohammed Merah be buried in the North African country.

Merah, who was of Algerian descent, died last Thursday after a 32-hour stand-off with police. In the weeks leading up to this he killed three French paratroopers and four people – including three children – outside a Jewish school in Toulouse.

Jewish child attacked outside Ozer Hatorah school in Paris

A Jewish boy has been attacked and verbally abused outside his school in Paris, just a week after four people were killed by an Islamist gunman outside a Jewish school in Toulouse.

The boy, 12, was outside a Jewish school in the French capital when teenagers shouting antisemitic chants set on him and hit and punched him. He escaped with only light injuries.

Al Jazeera sent video footage of Merah Toulouse killings

Footage of Mohammed Merah's shooting attacks in Toulouse has been obtained by the Paris branch of Arabic-language satellite news channel Al Jazeera.

The channel gave the memory stick, said to contain two clips of up to 25 minutes of video footage, to investigators on the case.
