Rabbi quits for Aussie role

Rabbi Rafi Kaiserblueth is to leave St Albans Masorti Synagogue to join the Emanuel congregation in Sydney.

During his six years with the Hertfordshire community, the Puerto Rico-born minister has seen the congregation virtually double in size to 450, acquiring its first permanent building in 2012.

St Albans Synagogue members turned out in numbers for the induction of its first rabbi in more than 50 years - former Aish UK director Daniel Sturgess.

Rabbi Sturgess and his wife, Alli, were appointed as joint rabbinical couple just over a year ago.

St Albans Masorti Synagogue opened the doors to its first permanent home, 21 years after the congregation’s establishment.

Many of the 200 members attended the first Shabbat services in the new premises — a former industrial unit just south of the city centre.
