Aaron Sorkin to write Chateau Marmont series

West Wing writer Aaron Sorkin is to create a television series for the HBO network about Hollywood's infamous Chateau Marmont.

Mr Sorkin, who won an Academy Award for The Social Network, is to adapt a book on the establishment written by its former co-owner.

Born to Jewish parents on 22 April 1923, in Dallas, Texas, Spelling enjoyed more than five decades of career success on both the small and big screens. His world renowned and widely celebrated work launched the careers of many major stars of the 1980s.

Super 8: new film from JJ Abrams and Steven Spielberg

This year's most eagerly awaited film is Super 8, produced by Steven Spielberg and directed by Lost creator JJ Abrams. The film, set in summer 1979, follows a group of friends who inadvertently film a train crash, then realise it wasn't an accident.

Super 8 is set for UK release in August.

Baby joy for Black Swan star Natalie Portman

Natalie Portman has become a mother.

The Black Swan star has given birth to a baby boy, according to People magazine.

The Jerusalem-born actress, 30, is engaged to the baby's father, choreographer Benjamin Millepied.

Ms Portman has not yet revealed the name of her firstborn.

Noah and the award-winning director Darren Aronofsky

Darren Aronofsky is set to take on a biblical task.

The award-winning Black Swan director is in talks to film a live-action adaptation of the Genesis story Noah and the Ark.

According to Hollywood industry website Deadline, Mr Aronofsky has already written the script for a film and is expecting to make it with a budget of £80 million.

Laura Ziskin had fought a seven-year battle with cancer, during which time she was one of the founders of the charity Stand Up to Cancer (SU2C) and helped raise £122m for research.
