Milk and honey fudge

Some say that the Torah is as sweet and perfect as milk and honey. So with that lovely idea in mind I have created this deliciously more-ish milk and honey fudge for Shavuot. It is made with light evaporated milk but the taste is creamy and rich.
Makes 24 pieces approx
Preparation time: 15-20 minutes plus cooling

Blueberry, mascarpone and white chocolate pie

Blueberries and white chocolate have a great affinity, both in their flavours and the striking colours that they create; dark blue and white. This pie is made with a vanilla short-crust pastry and indulgently filled with a white chocolate cream and blueberries — or if you prefer, blackberries.
Preparation time: 25 minutes plus 4 hours chilling
Cooking time: 30 minutes

Recipe: Chocolate honeycomb marshmallow cheesecake

This very different cheesecake is bound to impress. Do use full-fat cream cheese as it holds better when cooked, and add the honeycomb decoration at the last minute so it keeps its crunch.
Serves 8


For the honeycomb:
● 4 tbsp golden syrup
● 1 tbsp water
● 200g caster sugar
● 3 tbsp bicarbonate of soda

A few weeks ago, my beloved dog was stolen. Eventually, following the offer of a reward, my dog - and another which was stolen at the same time - was returned. The return of our four-legged friends was a cause for great celebration, so this week I decided to hold a dinner party for my dogs and the owner of the other dog.

Students in Nottingham have helped their regional chaplains Rabbi Yochanan Pereira and his wife Jodie set a new personal best for serving meals.

The couple provided almost 250 meals in the week of Shavuot.

Sushi, lasagne, pizza and chocolate brownie cheesecake proved the most popular choices with diners.

Trainee ministers intern for Shavuot

A Shavuot intern programme is giving United Synagogue trainee ministers first-hand experience of the life of a community rabbi.

Under the scheme, Ben Kurzer has been assigned to Belmont, Elchonon Feldman to Borehamwood and Binny Fogelgarn to Edgware.

After spending Shavuot in their designated communities, their week ends on Sunday with a brunch with Dayan Yonason Abraham.

More than 1,200 cards have been produced by Phone and Learn (PaL) for distribution to kosher stores in London, Manchester, Glasgow, Birmingham and Bournemouth.
