Pope’s two-day visit to Israel is ‘chiefly religious’

Pope Francis’s two-day visit to the Holy Land is expected to go ahead, despite the strike at Israel’s Foreign Ministry.

According to a source involved in planning the visit in May, the pope will land first in Jordan, travel to Bethlehem in the Palestinian territories and then spend a day in Jerusalem.

New Iranian president describes Israel as a 'wound'

Hasan Rouhani called Israel an “old wound” at a rally in Tehran held in solidarity with the Palestinian people on International Al-Quds day.

Speaking two days before his official inauguration as President of Iran, Rouhani is quoted to have said that “the Zionist regime has been a wound on the body of the Islamic world for years.”

Sun set to shine on Israel parade

If the Met Office is to be believed, it will not be raining on the Closer to Israel parade in central London on Sunday.

British Jewry’s biggest solidarity event with Israel for five years, in celebration of the country’s 65th anniversary, will begin outside Hyde Park at midday, followed by a two-hour gathering in Trafalgar Square from 2pm.
