Toulouse widow lights candle at Israel memorial ceremony

The widow of the rabbi murdered in last month's shooting at a Jewish school in Toulouse has taken part in a ceremony marking Israel's day of remembrance for its fallen.

Eva Sandler lit the memorial candle at a Jewish Agency ceremony in Jerusalem, held a little over a month after her husband and two sons were gunned down by Islamist Mohammed Merah.

Boat owner wins place in Queen's Jubilee flotilla

A Jewish boat owner from Harrow is celebrating after his vessel was chosen to be part of the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant.

"Knot Arf", owned by Andrew Bernstein, will be one of 1,000 boats on the river on June 3 for a large-scale nautical celebration. More than 3,000 boat owners applied for a spot in the flotilla.

The boat will be crewed by Mr Bernstein's friends and family

Mazel Tov: Royal succession change at last

It looks as though, finally, the UK's archaic laws on royal succession are to be scrapped. The 16 Commonwealth heads have agreed to change the law so that male and female heirs to the throne are treated equally.

David Cameron says he will put it to parliament at the next session, when, one hopes, even the crustiest and most conservative members will accept it.

Press TV blames Israel and British royals for Ofcom problems

The Iranian-backed TV channel, Press TV , has launched a bizarre series of tirades over threats to its broadcasting licence, railing against “members of the royal family and government” for lobbying Ofcom, the broadcasting watchdog .

Press TV reported that it was to be taken off air in the UK next week, which has not been confirmed by Ofcom.
