Songwriter Gerry Goffin dies at 75

Oscar-nominated songwriter Gerry Goffin, who wrote classic songs such as (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman and The Loco-Motion, has died aged 75 in Los Angeles.

Mr Goffin composed more than 50 top 40 songs, writing with fellow Jewish songwriter Carole King. The couple were married in 1959 when Ms King was 17 and divorced nine years later.

US rapper apologises after wearing ‘fake Jew’ outfit

US rapper Macklemore has denied accusations of antisemitism after he appeared to don a “fake Jew” outfit for a gig in Seattle.

He issued an apology on his website, insisting that he did not intend to insult Jewish people when he wore a black suit, wig, beard and large plastic nose.

There was widespread outrage when photographs of the concert were posted online.

Amy Whinehouse card sold for charity

A birthday card, handmade by late pop-star Amy Winehouse for her mother Janis, has been sold for £200.

The green card with a cartoon image of Mrs Winehouse, decorated by a 12-year-old Amy, was auctioned on eBay to raise money for the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Justin Timberlake to perform in Tel Aviv

American pop star Justin Timberlake will perform in Israel later this year.

The award-winning singer and producer, 32, who rose to fame as part of the N Sync boyband in the 1990s, has never performed in Israel.

The Cry Me a River-singer, who has won four Emmy and six Grammy awards, will perform in Tel Aviv in May.
