Board of Deputies seeks support for its election manifesto

The Board of Deputies has called on the community to make its voice heard on Jewish issues ahead of the general election in May.

It has set up a web page which assists people in their efforts to contact their MPs and prospective parliamentary candidates online.

The Board hopes voters will ask their representatives whether they support the organisation’s Jewish manifesto.


Stalker victims’s bill starts passage through Commons

The bill was drafted by stalking victim and founder of Voice4Victims Claire Waxman and Harry Fletcher criminal justice director at the Digital-Trust.

Last week we launched our campaign to Secure Our Shuls. We demanded action to implement the recommendation of the All Party Inquiry Into Antisemitism that “a governmental fund be established to cover both capital and revenue costs for the security of British synagogues”.


Government 'considering' shul security funding in response to JC campaign

The government is considering whether to set up a fund to cover the costs of synagogue security in response to the JC’s Secure our Shuls campaign.

Immigration and Security Minister James Brokenshire said on Wednesday that ministers are looking into what more could be done to protect British Jews and Jewish institutions.

Sir Malcolm Rifkind charged a Jewish charity £5,000 for a one-hour speech.

The veteran Conservative MP, who has been implicated in a “cash-for-access” row, spoke at a UJIA business breakfast to mark Yom Ha’atzmaut in May last year.

The House of Commons’ register of members’ financial interests show that Sir Malcolm recorded the fee one month later.
