Some dedicated bridge players have added £15,000 to the Norwood coffers.

More than 50 supporters joined Sunday’s 10 Bridges walk, starting near Vauxhall Bridge and finishing beyond Tower Bridge. The route afforded views of landmarks including the Houses of Parliament, the London Eye and St Paul’s Cathedral.

Norwood retains its star quality

For some 50 years, passengers arriving at West Norwood station in south London might have spotted a large yellow Magen David on a nearby building.

The distinctive emblem stood out from the wall of the synagogue of Norwood Hall, the orphanage which was once home to up to 400 Jewish children.

That building will be demolished next Wednesday.

The Israel tour of a lifetime

We are arranged in a circle, surrounded by pots of coloured paint and plastic stencils, ready to create designs for Purim T-shirts. The place is northern Israel, minutes from the Mediterranean. Ages range from 18 to 25. In the past few days we have been donkey riding in biblical costumes, taken part in adventure activities in the Carmel forest and toured the Mini Israel theme park.
