Brooklyn counsellor accused of sexual assault on a minor

A strictly-Orthodox Brooklyn counsellor is standing trial in the Brooklyn Supreme Court charged with 88 counts of sexual assault on a minor.

Nechemya Weberman, 54, has been accused of forcing a girl of only 12 to perform oral sex on him when she was sent to him for counselling for being rebellious.

Over 300 people attended the funeral of Jessica Streich-Kest, 24, and Jacob Vogelman, 23, who were killed by a falling tree as the storm hit New York on October 29.

As Hurricane Sandy hits, Katz’s deli kept bagels coming

Darkness descended over the historically Jewish neighbourhood of Lower East Side on Tuesday evening where the power was still out the day after Hurricane Sandy ravaged the north-eastern coast of the US, leaving at least 50 people dead and millions without electricity.

At the Chasam Sopher synagogue, one of the area’s many Jewish institutions, there were no signs of light or life.

A young Jewish couple were killed by a falling tree as Hurricane Sandy hit Brooklyn, New York, on Monday night.

Jacob Vogelman and Jessie Streich-Kest, both 23, were walking their dog when they were struck by the tree in Ditmas Park, according to various media reports.
