Man charged with murder of Jewish Brooklyn boy

A man has been charged with the murder of an eight-year-old boy from a Chasidic Jewish community in New York.

Levi Aron, 35, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder, a day after the dismembered remains of Leiby Kletzky were found in two separate locations in Brooklyn.

Shock over 'brutal murder' of Jewish Brooklyn boy

Police are questioning a suspect in connection with the brutal murder of an eight-year-old boy from Brooklyn's Charedi Jewish community.

Body parts said to be those of Leibby Kletzky were found in two locations in the Boro Park area, at the apartment of a man called Levi Aron, and hidden in a suitcase in a rubbish bin.

Investigators looking into the disappearance of a nine-year-old boy from New York's Orthodox Jewish community said they believed they had found his body.

Leibby Kletzky was last seen leaving a summer day camp in Brooklyn on Monday afternoon.

A rabbi and his wife are engaged in a court battle over his alleged involvement with prostitutes and her role in a sting operation to catch him.

Long Island rabbi Avraham Rabinowich, who is even alleged to have hired prostitutes on Shabbat – after services - was secretly filmed by a private investigator. The investigator had been hired by his wife Dr Amora Rachelle during a custody fight.

New York Shomrim in neighbourhood feud

A dispute has broken out in New York between an Orthodox Jewish security force and a man arrested for hitting a rabbi.

Dwight Chaparro was charged with felony assault after battering the 57-year-old Rabbi Mordechai Stern over the head with a wooden shelf. The attack was said to be because of a parking space.

Men indicted for rape ordeal of Jewish teen

Four men have been charged with raping an Orthodox Jewish teenager in the Crown Heights neighbourhood of Brooklyn in 2003.

The girl, who is now in her early 20s, was also allegedly beaten and forced into prostitution for the following eight years.

Prosecutors said the men threatened to hurt family members if she informed the authorities.

New York synagogue bomb plotters sentenced

A trio behind a plot to bomb a Bronx synagogue in 2009 have been given 25-year-sentences by a federal judge in the United States.

The FBI intercepted the plans before the men, James Cromitie, David Williams and Onta Williams, could carry them out.

Undercover agents gave the men fake bombs so that when they came to plant the devices in two cars by the synagogue, there was no explosion.

Burn victim hands rabbi $18m lawsuit

New Square - about 40 miles from New York City in Rockland County - is populated by Skver Chasidim, a group that originated in the Ukranian town of Skvyra. David Twersky has been its Grand Rabbi since his father died in 1968.

Weiner resigns over Twitter photo scandal

The disgraced Congressman Anthony Weiner has announced that he is to step down over the scandal of his online communications.

Mr Weiner said he would leave his job, ending more than a week of speculation about his political future. He said he was sorry for the embarrassment that he had caused and added that he hoped to continue to fight for the key causes of his constituents.
