Scottish councillor accused over 'Nazi salute'

A local councillor who allegedly made a Nazi salute and shouted “sieg heil” at a heated council meeting is to face a disciplinary hearing.

Robert Spears, who sits as part of an independent group on Falkirk council in Scotland, is said to have made the Nazi gesture last May during a debate on the way the council makes decisions.

Aidan Burley to stand down as MP after Nazi stag-do controversy

Probe over painting owned by Goering

The National Museum of Wales is investigating how one of its most important artworks once came to be in the possession of senior Nazi Hermann Goering.

The museum, which owns one of the UK’s most important art collections, is conducting special research into its 16th-century portrait of Welsh noblewoman Catrin of Berain, painted by Flemish artist Adriaen van Cronenburgh.

Uneasy rider: Anger over 'Genocide' bike decorated with Nazi symbols

A motorcycle enthusiast has expressed outrage over a bike decorated with Nazi symbols that has been displayed at shows around the country.

Alex Spirling said he was “disgusted” by the faces of Holocaust victims and the entrance to Auschwitz painted on the petrol tank, and a swastika fixed in the centre of the front wheel.

Gurlitt suggests he may return looted art

The reclusive German pensioner accused of hoarding more than 1,400 pieces of art thought to have been looted by the Nazis is reportedly willing to return items to the heirs of their original owners.

Cornelius Gurlitt had said he intended to keep the paintings discovered at his Munich flat after details of the haul were revealed last November.

The inventory contains details of 16,558 works taken by the regime from museums and art galleries in Germany during 1937 and 1938.
