Hotel holds prison parties at former Nazi jail

Tourists are being offered the chance to experience life as a prisoner at a hotel on the site of a former Nazi jail.

For a bargain £38, visitors to the four-star Hotel Stadt in the German town of Hameln can attend special "Prussian prison parties".

Nazis had barking mad talking dog plan

The Nazis hoped to develop an army of talking canines, according to an academic at Cardiff University who has written a book on the subject.

Dr Jan Bondeson claims that the Nazis believed dogs possessed almost human intelligence and created a "school" to develop their communication skills. Adolf Hitler and other senior officials were known for their love of dogs.

Mr Von Trier said he was sincerely sorry if his remarks, made at the Cannes press conference for his new film Melancholia, had hurt anyone.

John Demjanjuk found guilty of Holocaust killings

A man who could be one of the last people tried in Germany for Nazi-era war crimes has been found guilty of helping to kill Jews at Sobibor concentration camp.

John Demjanjuk was accused of being an accessory to the deaths of more than 27,000 people while he was a concentration camp guard during the Holocaust.

A judge sentenced him to five years in prison.

On Tuesday, a Budapest court acquitted Mr Zuroff, director of the Simon Weisenthal Centre in Israel, of libel for describing Sandor Kepiro, a former officer in the Hungarian Gendarmerie, as a war criminal.
