The Jew-killer of Toulouse who allegedly took the time to film the children he shot in cold blood, claimed he did so because of Israel's policies towards Palestinians.

With a win of 413 seats and 40.7 per cent of votes, Labour swept to a historic third term, putting an end to the hopes of Conservative leader Michael Howard.

Mr Howard, whose grandmother died in Auschwitz after being deported from Romania, grew up in Llanelli in South Wales. He studied at Cambridge, passed the bar and won his first election in 1983.


Michael Howard pays to restore Swansea cemetary

Michael Howard has helped to pay for the restoration of a vandalised Jewish cemetery in Swansea, where his father was buried.

The United Synagogue’s burial team was asked to restore Townhill Cemetery, which is now closed, by Mr Howard and the local Jewish community.

Mr Howard, the former Conservative leader, offered to pay for some of the team’s expenses and asked for his father, who was buried there in 1966, to be moved to Bushey cemetery to join his late mother.


Michael Howard on interfaith group's board

The former Conservative leader Michael Howard and the Labour MP Frank Field, a former minister, have been appointed as part of a “reinvigoration” of the trustees board at the Council of Christians and Jews (CCJ).

The new appointments are part of an attempt to bring in influential characters who can increase the impact and reach of the CCJ, which aims to promote religious and cultural understanding between the two faiths.


Michael Howard’s mother dies

Hilda Howard, mother of the former Tory leader Michael Howard, has died at the age of 97.

Mr Howard paid tribute to his mother this week, describing her as “a very remarkable lady.”

She ran a ladies fashion shop in Llanelli, South Wales for many years before moving to Stanmore in Middlesex where she became a pillar of the local community attending synagogue every week and working tirelessly for Wizo.
