I was recently asked to write the foreword to a publication being produced by the Adam Science Foundation to mark the 20th anniversary of its leadership programme. Named after the late Adam Science (z"l), who tragically died in 1991 aged just 27, the programme has had great success in developing the next generation of lay and professional leadership within Anglo-Jewry.

Plea to Chief Rabbi Lord Sacks: don't leave

Fans of the current chief rabbi have mounted a bid to keep him in the post after his official retirement.

Lord Sacks announced two years ago that he would be stepping down in September 2013, after a total of 22 years at the helm of the United Hebrew Congregations.

But with his successor yet to be named, supporters are hoping he will reconsider.

The hidden area between a municipal car park and two alleyways off a bustling Plymouth street may seem a peculiar location for the oldest functioning Ashkenazi synagogue in the English-speaking world.

Indeed, many British Jews do not know of the existence of the magnificent, ornate, Grade II listed Plymouth Synagogue that is currently celebrating its 250th anniversary.

Lord Sacks speaks about Holocaust memory at Yom Ha'Shoah service

The chief rabbi spoke of the Jewish community's "duty of remembrance" at a service to mark Israel's Holocaust Memorial Day.

Lord Sacks, who held a question and answer session with Jewish teenagers at JFS School before the annual commemoration, was one of several speakers at the event.

Archbishop of Canterbury to step down before Lord Sacks

The chief rabbi has honoured the career of his "true friend" the Archbishop of Canterbury, following the news that he is to step down before the end of the year.

Dr Rowan Williams will leave office in December to become Master of Magdalene College, Cambridge, meaning that he will retire eight months before Lord Sacks steps down.

Sacks supports disputed plan for Leeds secondary

Chief Rabbi Lord Sacks has backed the plan for a Jewish secondary school in Leeds, which is opposed by Manchester's King David High.

More than 150 Leeds parents support the free school proposal, which Lord Sacks sees as a means "to ultimately secure the Jewish future". But KD, which has 100 pupils from Leeds, argues that a Leeds school would "damage both of us".
