Limmud 2014: Yachad founder warns over Israel's future

A prominent British activist has said Israel has no future if it carries on down its current path.

Hannah Weisfeld, founder and director of Yachad, said: “The conflict is becoming worse and more entrenched, and if we can’t find a way to create a different Zionist future entrenched in tolerance and a belief in the humanity of others, I don’t think there’s a future for Israel.”

Limmud 2014: Organisers promise bigger event next year

Organisers of the Limmud annual winter conference have pledged to increase the size of the event in its new venue next year following the success of another full-to-capacity programme.

This week’s conference was the last at Warwick University before Limmud moves to Birmingham in 2015.

Limmud 2014: Faith schools 'warp our children', claims rabbi

Speaking on a panel of educators and activists, the rabbi of Maidenhead Synagogue accused the schools of “collective negative aspects which go against Jewish values.

Limmud 2014: Chief says take pride in Judaism and reach out to others

Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis arrived at his second Limmud with a message that Jews should take pride in their religion.

Rabbi Mirvis, the first UK chief rabbi to attend the cross-communal event last year, told a large audience that Judaism could be preserved by Jews helping others in a spirit of tikkun olam — healing the world.

Limmud 2014: Call to end discrimination against Israeli Arabs

Limmud 2014: Delicious! Diners give thumbs up to new menu

Limmud’s new caterers are rising to the task of feeding thousands of people, with participants describing the fare on offer as “delicious”.

Manchester firm Celia Clyne Banqueting was handed the largest kosher catering contract in Europe to supply more than 30,000 meals throughout the week. Owner Celia Clyne said it has been “a steep learning curve”.
