On Sunday, in the heart of Europe, one in five Hungarian votes were cast for a neo-Nazi party. The near-total collapse of the BNP has insulated us from the surge in support for the extreme right across mainland Europe. But the rise of Marine Le Pen — who may well top the French polls in next month’s Euro elections — and other extremists is not going away.

Hungary protests at far-right rally in ex-shul

Hungarians demonstrated against a rally held by the antisemitic Jobbik party at a former shul last week.

More than a hundred protesters gathered outside the building in the northern city of Esztergom, where Jobbik leader Gábor Vona spoke to supporters as part of his campaign ahead of the Hungarian elections in April.
