Just days after 25 people were killed as they sat down for seder in the Park Hotel in Netanya, a 17-year-old Israeli girl went on a routine trip to the supermarket. Her visit to the Kiryat Yovel neighbourhood of Jerusalem that Friday afternoon coincided with that of another teenage girl, one named Ayat al-Akhras.
The woman killed in yesterday’s explosion near the central bus station in Jerusalem was a British tourist.
Police said Mary Jean Gardner, 59, was not carrying any identification when the bomb exploded in the early afternoon, as schools were breaking up for the day. It had been left in a bag beside a stop along the 74 bus route.
Early reports suggest that 25 people have been injured, three seriously after a bomb exploded in central Jerusalem. Al Jihad al Islami (Islamic Jihad) have reportedly claimed responsibility for the attack.
