Anger as anti-Israel video spoof claims Welsh Assembly backing

Anti-Israel campaigners have been using the stamp of the Welsh Assembly to give legitimacy to an offensive video attack on Israel.

The video on the Swansea Telly online channel is narrated by “Paul”, who describes himself as an “allegedly unbiased reporter for the BBC Zionist network, reporting from Zionist Games at the Gaza Strip”.


Israel boycotters turn attention to Edinburgh culture meeting

Anti-Israel campaigners have revealed plans to disrupt a meeting of international politicians due to discuss culture in Edinburgh this week.

The first International Culture Summit will be held in the Scottish capital on Monday and Tuesday, bringing together culture ministers from Olympic nation as well as scores of other figures from the arts world.


Israel boycotters have Cirque du Soleil in their sights

Anti-Israel activists are calling for Cirque du Soleil to be prevented from performing in Tel Aviv next month.

The world-famous circus, which is based in Canada, is due to entertain audiences with its "Alegria" show between August 8 and 18 as part of an international tour.


Israel boycotters block Barenboim's orchestra from Jerusalem concert

A concert by an orchestra that aims to promote harmony between Israelis and Palestinians has been cancelled after supporters of a cultural boycott of Israel raised objections.

Daniel Barenboim's West-East Divan orchestra, which works to bring together Arab and Israeli performers and break down the divide between the two groups, was set to perform on Tuesday at the Mount of Olives.


Co-op stands by Syria, but remains defiant on Israel boycott

A petition signed by more than 4,000 people opposed to the Co-operative movement’s boycott of Israeli settlement products has been handed over to the company.

The Israel advocacy group We Believe collected 4,089 signatures after the Co-op adopted the stance in May.


New government adviser rejects boycott

The newly-appointed chief scientific adviser to the government has dismissed the threat posed to Israel by academic boycott activists in Britain.

Sir Mark Walport, 59, a top rheumatologist and immunologist, said while anti-Israel campaigners had generated “a lot of heat”, their efforts had resulted in little support from scientists.

A little known member of Hollywood's Disney family has said she is disclaiming her share in Israeli cosmetics firm, Ahava Dead Sea Laboratories.

Abigail Disney, 52, the grand-daughter of Roy O Disney, who co-founded the Walt Disney Company, said this week that she would donate profits she earns from her investment in Ahava to organisations "working to end this illegal exploitation."


Edinburgh festival: no change on Israelis despite boycott campaign

The organisers of the Edinburgh International Festival have said they will not bow to pressure after pro-Palestinian campaigners called for an invitation to an Israeli dance company to be withdrawn.

Israel's Batsheva Dance Company is due to perform three shows at the event between August 30 and September 1, as part of a UK-wide tour.
