Jello Biafra to play in Israel despite protests

Musician Jello Biafra has vowed to defy calls for him to boycott a planned performance in Israel.

The former lead singer of the Dead Kennedys is set to play in Tel Aviv for the first time on July 2 with his band the Guantanamo School of Medicine.

Israelis boycott costly cottage cheese

A group of Israelis have launched an online protest over the soaring price of cheese.

More than 75,000 people have joined a Facebook group called "Eight shekels for such a basic product? Don't buy cottage cheese for a month".

The price of cottage cheese has skyrocketed in the last few years and a 250g container is now sold in many supermarkets at £1.40.

No more boycotts

West Dunbartonshire Council's boycott of Israel is morally wrong and deserves almost everything being thrown at it. But the notion of a tit-for-tat boycott of whisky made by distillers in West Dunbartonshire, such as Chivas, Glenlivet and Ballantine's, is simply ridiculous.
If one is, rightly, angered by blanket boycotts, it is simply perverse to launch another one in competition.

Israeli honour for Sir James Wolfensohn after Beirut petition

The former president of the World Bank has pulled out of a speech at the American University of Beirut because of pressure from anti-Israel activists.

Australian-born Sir James Wolfensohn, who is Jewish, was due to speak at the AUB graduation ceremony on June 25 and be awarded an honorary doctorate.

Boycott leader defends Fogel killers

A star children's entertainer has been barred from a science fair in Abu Dhabi – because he is Israeli.

Uri Weil, who is better known to young Israelis as Dr Water Molecule, was due to perform 40 shows in the Emirates' first ever science festival.
