Quakers ban West Bank settler goods

British Quakers have voted to boycott goods from "illegal" Israeli settlements in the West Bank.

Representatives of the pacifist movement's 23,000 supporters said that the decision, taken at a meeting last Saturday, would give hope to Palestinians and those working for peace in Israel.

Johannesburg university condemned for 'brutal' Israel boycott

Jewish and Israeli groups have criticised the decision by the University of Johannesburg (UJ) to sever its ties with Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (BGU).

The South African university announced it would no longer work with BGU, following a long anti-Israel campaign by academics and intellectuals, including Archbishop Desmond Tutu.

No boycott at LSE or Edinburgh Union

The president of Edinburgh University Students' Association has confirmed a proposed boycott of Israeli products will not be enforced.

Around 270 students at the university last week voted in favour of a motion which described Israel as an apartheid state and called for a boycott of goods.
