Bar Refaeli hits out at Pink Floyd's Roger Waters over Israel boycott

Model Bar Refaeli has challenged Pink Floyd guitarist and singer Roger Waters over his boycott of Israel.

The Israeli said she wanted Mr Waters to stop using an image of her in the background of his concerts after he urged activists to declare a cultural boycott of the country.

The British musician is a long-standing advocate of boycott, divestment and sanctions.

Caroline Lucas has lobbied Southern Water over its deal with Arad Technologies, one of the world’s leading producers of hi-tech water meters.

BBC to cut Kennedy slur from Proms broadcast

Anti-Israel statements made by renowned violinist Nigel Kennedy will be cut from a BBC Proms television broadcast later this month.

Mr Kennedy used a Royal Albert Hall performance of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons last week to launch a thinly-veiled attack on Israel, likening the country to apartheid South Africa.

Protests fail to halt Brighton EcoStream party

An Israeli-owned shop in Brighton saw record sales during its first anniversary celebrations last weekend — despite being picketed by boycott activists.

Israel supporters from London and along the south coast flocked to the EcoStream store for the festivities.

Sussex Friends of Israel member Daniel Laurence described the event as “excellent — the shop was packed”.

Cable car deal with Emirates airline amended

Transport for London has confirmed that a cable-car sponsorship deal with the Emirates airline has been rewritten to remove a clause which appeared to discriminate against Israel.

The original wording of the contract, for the Thames cable car in east London, made clear that TfL must have no ties to anyone the United Arab Emirates considered to be a “conflicting person”.

Police alert over Brighton shop protests

An Israeli-owned shop in Brighton will celebrate its first birthday this weekend — and Sussex police are preparing for potential trouble.

Hundreds of anti-Israel activists and members of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC) are expected to picket EcoStream, which sells SodaStream recyclable bottles made in the West Bank settlement of Mishor Adumim.

Library urged to ban anti-Israel Urdu novel

Fears have been raised over antisemitic books being stocked by public libraries.

Concern surrounds an Urdu novel, whose cover displays a star of David at the centre of what appears to be an American flag.

It features a Jewish central character called The Storm who is leader of a fictional country that appears to represent Israel, and who seeks world domination.
