Former IDF Chief Amnon Lipkin-Shahak dies aged 68

Amnon Lipkin-Shahak, a former chief of staff of the Israeli army and a leading member of Knesset, has died aged 68.

Mr Lipkin-Shahak joined the IDF in 1962, served in the Six Day War and succeeded Ehud Barak as the 15th Chief of the General Staff in 1995.

Gaza knifeman killed by IDF after he stabbed a woman in her home

A series of security failures helped a Gaza man to infiltrate Israel, where he stabbed a woman at her home in Sde Avraham on Monday.

The attacker cut through the electric Gaza border fence, then the Eshkol region fence. He walked several kilometres undetected before finally cutting the fence at Sde Avraham.

Man killed after attempt to breach Israel-Gaza border

Israeli troops have shot and killed a man after hundreds of Palestinians attempted to breach the Israel-Gaza border.

The IDF said around 300 people had approached the border fence at locations throughout the Gaza Strip in an apparent attempt to cross into southern Israel on Friday.

Swedish editor defends article accusing IDF of organ-theft
