Lib Dems manifesto condemns Israel and Hamas over ‘disproportionate force’

The Liberal Democrats have unveiled their policy on Israel and the Palestinians as part of their general election manifesto.

The party said it remained committed to a two-state solution to the conflict, and condemned “disproportionate force used by all sides”.

Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg unveiled the policy document at an event in London on Wednesday morning.

Hamas say no to long-term deal

Hamas has formally rejected a proposal for a long-term ceasefire with Israel. The truce would have been in exchange for a lifting of the Gaza blockade and reconstruction of the war-ravaged strip.

The offer was a result of ongoing discussions between Palestinian, Israeli and international diplomats, and was conveyed to Hamas last week by a United Nations representative.

EU appeals court decision to delist Hamas as terror group

The European Union will appeal a decision by its central court to remove Palestinian group Hamas from the EU terrorism blacklist.

Last month, the court annulled the designation of Hamas as a terrorist group and ended the freezing of Hamas funds on procedural grounds, although no cash will be released until the case is resolved.

Hamas member jailed for murder of three Israeli teens

A Palestinian man has been sentenced to three life sentences for the abduction and murder of three Israeli teenagers in the West Bank in June last year.

The killings sparked a cycle of violence that led to a 50-day war with Hamas in Gaza.
