Israel Tour organisers promise safe passage

Israel tour organisations in the UK have moved to reassure parents that their teenage children will be safe despite the escalating violence.

UJIA Israel Experience, which co-ordinates tours for more than 1,200 young Jews from movements including Bnei Akiva, FZY, Habonim Dror, RSY-Netzer and Noam, said it was in regular contact with parents and was giving the situation its full attention.

Benjamin Netanyahu says Israel will increase assault on Hamas

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said the country will increase its assault on Hamas and terrorist organisations in Gaza.

His announcement came in a statement issued on Wednesday afternoon after another day of rocket attacks on Israel.

Rockets rain down on Israel, from Beersheva to Haifa

More than 120 rockets have been fired on Israel from the Gaza strip in the past 24 hours.

The Israeli Defence Force said it had struck more than 160 Hamas terror bases in Gaza in response, killing 20 Palestinians.

The IDF said its current ‘Protective Edge’ operation would continue until firing at Israel stops.

‘Ex-Fatah militants’ killed in IDF Gaza strike

The Israeli air force has hit a target in the northern Gaza Strip, killing two people and wounding several others, according to Palestinian reports.

The Palestinian Health Ministry said the target was a vehicle driving along Gaza’s main coastal road near the al-Shati refugee camp, not far from the home of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh.

Mahmoud Abbas condems Gaza rocket fire on Israel

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has condemned the firing of a rocket into southern Israel from the Gaza Strip this morning.

Israel said it would hold Mr Abbas responsible for future rocket attacks coming from Gaza after the swearing in of a new Fatah-Hamas unity government earlier this month.

IDF and Hamas taking digs at each other over discovery of Gaza tunnel

The discovery of a large tunnel leading from Gaza to Israel has led to a war of words between Israel and Hamas.

The tunnel, one of the longest discovered so far, leads 700 metres east of the border, and runs close to the Israeli communities of Kibbutz Nirim and Kibbutz Ein Hashlosha, according to the Israeli army officers who uncovered it.

A tunnel thought to have been built by Hamas to attack Israel extended 700 metres into Israeli terrority, the IDF has announced. It is the longest yet discovered.

The earthwork was unearthed near the border with the Gaza strip, after heavy rainstorms exposed one of its entrances in Israel.

Its length took it close to the Israeli communities of Kibbutz Nirim and Kibbutz Ein Hashlosha.

Gaza terror group declares ceasefire

Islamic Jihad has announced a ceasefire after launching a massive rocket barrage at southern Israel over the past 24 hours.

The Gaza terror group said that the truce had been brokered by Egypt – but Israel has not yet confirmed it.

Southern Israel under massive rocket barrage from Gaza

Islamic Jihad has claimed responsibility after more than 100 rockets and mortar rounds were fired at Israel from Gaza earlier today, the largest such attack since 2012.

Most of the rockets fell in open areas away from population centres but one rocket hit a residential district. No casualties on the Israeli side have so far been reported.
