IDF rejects UN school death accusations

The Israeli military has forcefully rejected accusations that it was responsible for the deaths of 15 people at a UN school in Beit Hanoun in Gaza.

A spokesperson for the IDF said: “The inquiry and the documented footage presented here concluded that a single errant IDF mortar landed in the courtyard of the UNRWA school, when it was completely empty.”

Obama talks to Bibi, demands ceasefire

US President Barack Obama has demanded an immediate ceasefire in Gaza after speaking to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday evening.

Mr Obama said the ceasefire should be without any preconditions to allow humanitarian aid to reach the people of Gaza.

Yossi Benayoun brands Joey Barton ‘stupid’ over Gaza tweet

Israeli international footballer Yossi Benayoun has called former teammate Joey Barton ‘stupid’ and ‘embarrassing’ over comments on the Gaza conflict.

Tweeting after a UN-run school was hit by an Israeli shell, Barton said: “This is not war. These are not combatants. They are just innocent children. This is ethnic cleansing”.

Fifteen dead in Gaza school attack

The Israel Defence Force says it is investigating an attack on a United Nations school in the northern Gaza Strip which was being used as a shelter by civilians to escape the fighting.

Initial reports say that at least 15 people were killed when an Israeli tank shell hit the school in Beit Hanoun.

Board conflict over Deputy's Gaza view

A Board of Deputies member has been been accused of racism over comments made on the Gaza conflict.

Antony Cohen, a deputy for the Leeds Jewish Representative Council, told the Board's meeting on Sunday: "I'm going to lay my cards on the table, I don't care about any Palestinians, I only care about the Jewish people in this country and in Israel. We are facing a tremendous danger."

Amnesty International has been accused of sending out an email "filled with hate, lies, distorted facts and misrepresentation of reality" by a relative of one of the 3 Israeli teenagers murdered on the West Bank last month, after its UK crisis campaigns manager appealed to supporters to lobby against arms sales to Israel.

Hate explodes in cities from Paris to Sydney

Hundreds of pro-Palestinian protesters attacked the Jewish neighbourhood of Sarcelles, a suburb to the north of Paris, on Sunday, clashing with police who stopped them yards from a local synagogue.

The protesters burned cars, looted stores, set alight a pharmacy owned by Jews, and a kosher grocery shop. They threw firebombs, damaging a community building, and destroyed public property. .
