Hollande: France must face its Holocaust past

In the presence of President François Hollande, the 70th anniversary of the Vel d’Hiv round-up was officially commemorated last Sunday in Paris. On July 16 and 17, 1942, 12,884 Jews were penned into the Vélodrome d’Hiver for five days in the summer heat with little sustenance, before being moved on to Drancy and extermination at Auschwitz.

Madonna sued by National Front's Marine Le Pen

The Queen of Pop is facing legal action from France's far right leader over a controversial stunt in her current world tour.

Madonna has staged a scene in her current MDNA show in which a photograph of Marine Le Pen, the National Front leader, is shown with a swastika superimposed over it/

Others who come in for the same treatment include the pope, Sarah Palin and Hitler.

Toulouse Jewish school pupil attacked in France

The 17-year-old boy was allegedly insulted and harassed by a group of men on a train to Lyon last week. He was wearing a kippah at the time.
