Spurs fans attacked by 'neo-Nazis' in France

A gang of masked men allegedly chanting Nazi slogans attacked Tottenham fans drinking in a crowded pub in France, leaving three supporters injured.

Up to 150 Spurs fans were drinking at the Smoking Dog pub in Lyons on Wednesday evening, in advance of the club’s Europa League match against the city's team.

Israeli footballer barred from training session in Dubai

Israeli footballer Itay Schechter has missed a team visit to Dubai as a result of ongoing political tensions between Israel and the United Arab Emirates.

The 25-year-old striker, who plays for Swansea City, was prevented from attending the six-day group training session.

Football fan pleads guilty to racial abuse

A football fan was fined yesterday for having shouted antisemitic abuse at a Tottenham Hotspur player.

Aston Villa supporter Terry Douglas pleaded guilty to racially aggravated abuse after police officers overheard him call the unnamed footballer a Jewish c*** during a Premier League match.

The offence took place during the Villa Park match on Boxing Day last year.

Huddersfield Town fan banned for Nazi salute

A football fan has been banned from attending all football matches in England for the next three years after making a Nazi salute during a Championship game.

Gareth Smith, a Huddersfield Town supporter, was handed the ban by the courts on Thursday after being photographed making the gesture at a match in December.

Arab signings spark racism at Beitar

The Israeli FA and public opinion in the country have come down heavily against Beitar Jerusalem’s racist fans who reacted angrily to club owner Arkady Gaydamak’s decision to sign two Chechen Muslim players.

No Arab has ever played for Beitar and the only Muslim ever to play for the side, a Nigerian defender who arrived in 2004, left after two months.

Italian football matches 'should be abandoned' if fans chant antisemitic abuse

Antisemitic chanting at Italian football matches could lead to the suspension of games, new guidelines have suggested.

Italy’s interior ministry issued guidance which advises match referees to report incidents of “racism, intolerance or antisemitism” to stadium security chiefs who could then rule on whether to abandon a game.

Footballer Tal Ben Haim faces antisemitic abuse

Footballer Tal Ben Haim has been targeted with a torrent of antisemitic abuse by fans of his club.

The Israeli-born defender, who transferred to the Queens Park Rangers last week, was attacked on the club’s official Facebook page.

The messages have subsequently been deleted and offenders “blocked” from posting on the site.
