Iran plans to sue makers of film Argo

Iranian officials are planning to file a lawsuit against the makers of the Academy Award-winning film, Argo.

According to the Iranian media, French lawyer Isabelle Coutant-Peyre, wife of Venezualan terrorist Ilich Ramirez Sanchez, plans to lodge a case in an international court arguing that Argo, directed by Ben Affleck, was an “unrealistic portrayal” of the country.

Jews of Egypt film banned by security officials

Egyptian security officials have banned the screening of a Jewish documentary at Egyptian cinemas.

The ban was imposed one day before the "Jews of Egypt" documentary was due to be screened at three national cinemas today – no reasons were provided.

According to a report in the Huffington Post, the documentary looked at the lives of Egyptian Jews from the 1900s to the 1950s.

Sugar Man producer Simon Chinn wins second Oscar

Simon Chinn, the son of businessman Sir Trevor, went home with an Academy Award for the documentary Searching for Sugar Man, the hunt for the American musician Rodriguez.

‘Seventh Python’ claims his Spamalot share was cut a lot

The producer of the film Monty Python and the Holy Grail has sued the Pythons for what he believes is his rightful share of the proceeds from the spin-off musical Spamalot.

American-born Mark Forstater, who has lived in Britain for more than 40 years, was instrumental in bringing the Pythons’ Arthurian spoof to the screen in 1975.

Michael Winner has died aged 77

Film director Michael Winner has died aged 77, his wife has said.

Born in Hampstead, north London, in 1935 to a Russian father and a Polish mother, he started writing as a film critic aged just 14. He studied law and economics at Downing College, Cambridge, where he was the first Jewish editor of Cambridge University newspaper Varsity.

Ninety-nine-year-old film star

Young film - maker Ian Dingle has made a short documentary about the life of his 99-year-old great - great aunt Lotte Passer, who escaped Berlin before the war.

In the film, Ms Passer speaks about her travels around Europe and why she decided to remain in England. She eventually brought family members over to join her.
