Israel goes Eurovision crazy for Diva Dana International

Dana International may not be the bookies' favourite to win this year's Eurovision Song Contest, but Israel is more interested in the competition than any other country involved.

According to travel website Skyscanner, there has been a 192 per cent increase in Israeli internet searches for Dusseldorf – the city in which the contest is taking place this year.

Dana International outside chance for Eurovision 2011

Israel has only an outside chance of winning the top spot at this year's Eurovision Song Contest on Saturday evening in Dusseldorf.

Bookmaker Paddy Power is putting former champion Dana International's chances at 80 to 1, while Ladbrokes is offering odds of 125 to 1.

Dana International to represent Israel at Eurovision

Thirteen years after she won the competition for Israel Dana International is to represent the country at the Eurovision Song Contest.

The transgender performer, whose song “Diva” convinced European voters to give her the top spot in 1998, was the third entrant to ever win the contest for Israel.

Her win came as Israel celebrated its 50th birthday.
