Israel's ambassador to the UK due next month

Israel's new ambassador to the United Kingdom, London-born Daniel Taub, will officially begin his tenure before Rosh Hashanah, at the end of September.

Ambassador Taub, 49, was originally due to arrive at his post on August 28, but may only arrive for a "private visit" on that date.

London-born, Oxford and Harvard-educated, he has always excelled in argument. He was the most persuasive debater throughout my time at Oxford, in a strong field including William Hague and Boris Johnson.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry's senior appointments committee has selected London-born Daniel Taub as the next ambassador to Britain.

Colleagues lauded the selection of the 49-year-old as "an inspired and worthy choice", despite the Foreign Ministry employees' union objecting over his lack of seniority.

Daniel Taub to be Israel's next UK ambassador

Daniel Taub, the Israeli Foreign Ministry's deputy legal counsel will be the next Israeli ambassador to the UK.

British-born Mr Taub will replace Ron Prosor, who is now Israel’s ambassador the UN.

The appointment was decided by a senior committee at the Foreign Ministry, chaired by director-general Raphael Barak.
