'Israelis need to mix with UK Jews'

Israeli Ambassador Daniel Taub has urged Israelis living here to engage with British Jews, saying it was “sad” that they were only really connected by the anti-boycott movement.

Giving an address in Ivrit to an Israeli Business Club event in Hampstead this week, he told the 90 Israelis that there was a divide between the two communities.

Daniel Taub spoke to around 80 bishops, church ministers and lay leaders about applying biblical lessons to the Middle East peace process.

Archbishop of York Dr John Sentamu was among the participants who heard Mr Taub discuss his past experience as part of Israel's negotiating team.

Israeli ambassador Daniel Taub has launched Taglit-Birthright Israel’s new “UK awareness campaign” at an event celebrating the group’s 13th anniversary.

Mr Taub congratulated the Jerusalem-based organisation on its “barmitzvah”, stating that it was “one of the unusual, ambitious and effective projects in Jewish history”.

Foreign Office to Taub: 'disappointed' at settlements development

Galilee school centre name honours Lord Janner

A new education centre in the north of Israel is to be named after the former Labour MP and ex-president of the Board of Deputies, Lord Janner.

Israel's ambassador to the UK, Daniel Taub, and members of the UJIA recommended the veteran Labour peer, now 84, for the honour in recognition of his work promoting understanding between people of different faiths.
