Jailed Tesler could serve his sentence in the UK

Relatives of British solicitor Jeffrey Tesler, who was sentenced to almost two years in a US prison for bribing Nigerian officials for £4bn construction contracts, will lobby the Ministry of Justice to bring him home to serve his sentence here.

A close relation, who did not wish to be named, said they were investigating options for the Hendon solicitor, who has dual British-Israeli citizenship


Rabbi meets Cuban Jewish prisoner

A humanitarian delegation to Havana has met the man serving a 15-year sentence for providing Cuban Jews with computer equipment.

New York rabbi Arthur Schneier, from the Appeal of Conscience Foundation, urged Cuban officials to release Alan Gross.


St Andrews student convicted of anti-Jewish abuse plans appeal

A student convicted of racially abusing a Jewish student at St Andrews University has launched an appeal.

Paul Donnachie, of Blackpool, was sentenced to 150 hours of community service last September after being found guilty of the attack on Chanan Reitblat at his halls of residence.

The hearing will take place at Edinburgh's High Court of Criminal Appeal on March 13.

No prosecution in Israel Proms disruption

The Metropolitan Police have rejected a request from lawyers to pursue protesters who disrupted a Proms concert by the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra at London's Royal Albert Hall last September.

UK Lawyers for Israel had argued that charges of aggravated trespass could have been brought against some of those who took part in the protest.


Alleged egg attackers charged

Four men have been charged following a spate of alleged "drive-by" egg-throwing attacks which targeted Jews.

The charges follow the incidents in December last year in Hendon and Golders Green, north west London, when eggs were allegedly thrown from passing vehicles at religious Jews walking in the areas.


'Kill all Jews' threats to estate agency staff

A gang, shouting "we will kill all you Jews", smashed the windows of a Jewish estate agents in Edgware, witnesses claim.

They say that three burly men entered the Melvin Jacobs agency in Manor Park Crescent around Tuesday lunch-time, being joined shortly afterwards by a teenager and a woman. The antisemitic threats were directed at three staff members.


Attack on Jewish-owned shop in Edgware

A gang has attacked the premises of a Jewish estate agent, shouting antisemitic obscenities and smashing windows of the Edgware business, witnesses reported.

Police have arrested one member of the gang, who are alleged to have shouted "we will kill all you Jews" at staff of the estate agent Melvin Jacobs, on Manor Park Crescent, around lunchtime today .


Barrister who stole from chambers jailed

David Friesner, who was the deputy head of 9 St John Street Chambers, was an expert in fraud and money-laundering but found himself in debt as the credit crunch hit.


After eight years, stalker's victim is awarded £3,500 compensation

The victim of a serial stalker has been awarded compensation after a High Court judge ruled that the Crown Prosecution Service had failed to protect her.

Claire Waxman will receive £3,500 in damages after the CPS dropped a charge against Elliot Fogel, who has been repeatedly jailed for harassing her and her family.
