Stamford Hill sex predator fails in bid to clear his name

A man who had sex with a 15-year-old Orthodox Jewish boy has failed to clear his name in the Court of Appeal.

Najibullah Ahmadzai, 25, of Walthamstow, was found guilty at Snaresbrook Crown Court in June last year of sexual activity with a child.

Deemed a danger to the public, he was sentenced to indefinite imprisonment for public protection and ordered to serve at least three-and-a-half years behind bars before he could apply for parole.

He had sex with his victim, a member of the Orthodox Jewish community, after they met at a Stamford Hill internet cafe, where Ahmadzai worked.

Anti-Israel protestor cleared of police attack

A founding member of an anti-Israel group has been cleared of attacking a policeman during a protest against Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman.

Deborah Fink, of Jews for Boycotting Israeli Goods (JBIG), was arrested in London in May while demonstrating as Mr Lieberman spoke at an event at the home of JNF chairman Samuel Hayek.

Ms Fink was in a group of around a dozen protestors who were asked to move by police.

When they refused they were moved by officers. She admitted putting up “strong physical resistance” before she was arrested.

Richard Caring offers £15,000 for stag killer

The Jewish owner of The Ivy restaurant is offering £15,000 reward for capturing the vandal who shot two stags on his estate.

Police are investigating the possibility that the attacks may have been intended to send a threatening message to Mr Caring.

Richard Caring, who also owns celebrity hotspot Annabel’s nightclub, has now hired former SAS soldiers as security guards for his estate in Exmoor.

The businessman, who is 146th on the Sunday Times Rich List and worth an estimated £360 million, called the hunter “a lunatic with a high-powered rifle”.

Special interests of Charedi cops

Patrolling the Golders Green streets, Nochum Dewhurst and David Baddiel look like any other policemen on the beat.

But the helmets of the young special constables cover black kipot — they are the area’s first Charedi law officers.

SPC Dewhurst, 21, a product of Menorah Grammar School, has been a special for two years while SPC Baddiel, 27, is a recent recruit. Educated at Pardes House, he is related to his TV personality namesake.

Police swoop on Shabbat beach dinner

A bottle of kiddush wine was confiscated and poured away by police who pounced on a group of messianic Jews enjoying Shabbat dinner on a beach.

Five members of the Messiach Ben Yisrael community had been using the Palwin No 4 to make kiddush on Bournemouth beach.

The Basingstoke-based group had begun a post-kiddush discussion about the hymn Adon Olam when two police officers approached them for breaking “no alcohol” regulations.

Man charged over racist attacks in Salford

A man has been charged with 14 racially aggravated offences after a number of Jewish people were targeted in Salford.

Dean Parker, 22, of Merrick Avenue, Wythenshawe, has been charged with 14 counts of racially aggravated common assault.

Between 8 June and 10 June 2009 14 people from the Broughton Park Jewish community were sprayed with water as a Fiat Doblo drove past them in the Broughton Park area.

He will appear at Salford Magistrates' Court on Monday 28 September 2009

Three charged in safety deposit centre raid

Three people have been charged in connection with Operation Rize, a series of raids on safety deposit centres carried out by the Metropolitan Police in June last year.

Milton Woolf, 53, of West Heath Drive, Golders Green, a director of Safe Deposit Centres Limited, the company that controlled Hampstead Safe Depository, Edgware Safe Depository, and Park Lane Safe Depository, has been charged with 24 offences.
