Reassurance over anti-Charedi protest

CST figures show 2014 worst year on record for hate

More antisemitic incidents were recorded in Britain in 2014 than ever before, the Community Security Trust has revealed.

There were 1,168 cases reported to the charity — the highest since its records began.

The figure was more than double the number in the previous year, and included the worst-ever month. Last July saw 314 cases of Jew-hatred.

Police move to calm fears after false alarm over Golders Green car

Security groups have called on the London Jewish community to remain calm after a false alarm was raised on social media and neighbourhood forums over “men” behaving suspiciously.

Yesterday afternoon, messages were circulated calling on the community to report a car seen in a Jewish area of north-west London to police, including anti-terrorism officers.

Police investigate Liverpool swastika daubing

Police are appealing for witnesses after swastikas were found scratched into the door of a Jewish prayer hall in Liverpool.

The marks were carved in the Jewish section of Springwood Cemetery in Allerton.

The incident is being investigated by Merseyside police who are treating it as a hate crime.

Eric Pickles announces new measures to combat antisemitism

The UK is set to introduce new laws to combat the rise in antisemitism, which increased over the Israel-Gaza war this summer.

Communities Secretary Eric Pickles vowed to fight the “dark forces” of antisemitism – from university campuses to the football pitch – and teach schoolchildren about the Holocaust.

Stay alert as terror threat rises

The increased terror risk facing Britain may not include a specific threat to Jewish targets, but the community must be more alert than ever before, security experts have warned.

The Community Security Trust said it was aware of fears among British Jews that a series of attacks on Jewish communities abroad - including last week's synagogue murders in Jerusalem - could be replicated here.

FA investigating Dave Whelan’s Jew-hate remarks

The Football Association has opened an investigation into antisemitic comments made by Wigan Athletic owner Dave Whelan.

The governing body said it was “very concerned” to read the remarks attributed to him in which he claimed Jews “chase money”.

An investigation is now under way and the FA’s governance division has written to the former footballer turned businessman.
