A teenage musical duo have raised £1100 for four cancer charities.

Max Gray, 15, and Francesca Harris, 14, recorded a song, I Can't Handle It, in support of Cure Cancer at UCL, Macmillan, Breast Cancer Care and the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Max and Francesca were moved by the plight of Sandra Hamilton, 53, who has terminal non-hodgkins lymphoma.

An evening of traditional Babylonian-inspired music was attended by 150 members of the Iraqi-Jewish community at Lauderdale Road Synagogue, Maida Vale.

“It’s a way to revitalise our past and promote Moreshet Babel music in the old Iraqi way,” explained synagogue elder Sabah Gabbay, who left Iraq more than 50 years ago. “We don’t want to forget our heritage.”

Annabel Bartfeld has raised £500 by donating £10 from each purchase from the jewellery range, whose pieces incorporate personalised photos and for which prices start at £95.

There was a sporting theme to the first Manchester fundraising dinner for special needs charity Langdon, which raised £250,000.

Wayne Sleep was among the judges at a Strictly Come Dancing-style contest at the West London Synagogue which raised £8,000 for charity.

Contestants aged from 30-73 took the floor in disciplines ranging from the tango to the rumba and quickstep. Francesca Canty and dance partner Toby Hine won the competition with their quickstep routine.
