Don’t worry, latkes will be back in April

Kosher latke lovers have avoided further catastrophe after it was revealed that the disappearance of the frozen mini potato products from Tesco stores is only temporary.

The London Beth Din-supervised kosher mini-latkes are thought to be the only mass-produced version of the fried treat still on sale in this country.

Recipe: Sweet potato latkes

Sweet potato makes these latkes a little different, but the sugar in them means they can burn, so cook them over a medium to medium/high heat and don't keep them too long in the pan.

● 3 (675g) Maris Piper potatoes
● 1 (256g) sweet potato
● 1 onion
● 60g flour

Israeli bites into dough for doughnuts challenge

A man is hoping to eat more than 100 doughnuts by the end of Chanucah – and raise money for charity in the process.

Elie Klein's now-annual "dough for doughnuts" began two years ago after a bet with a friend.

The Beit Shemesh–based food-lover decided to put his money where his mouth was and last year raised around £5,700 for a binge of 70 doughnuts over the month of Kislev.
