Man charged over yeshivah sex assaults

An Orthodox Jew has been charged with sexually assaulting children at a Jewish school in Australia.

David Cyprys, a locksmith who runs a company called Shomer Security, faced Melbourne Magistrates' Court on Tuesday on 16 counts of indecent assault and 13 counts of gross indecency, allegedly committed against students at Yeshivah College between 1984 and 1991.

Dominique Strauss-Kahn's downfall is looking less certain following the emergence of "major holes" in the evidence against him over allegations of sexual assault.

The former head of the International Monetary Fund, who has now been replaced by French finance minister Christine Lagarde, was accused of sexually assaulting a Manhattan hotel worker in May.

The man required medical treatment after the attack at an Israel Apartheid Week event in March.

The victim, named as Aron Rottenberg by The Journal News, was attacked yesterday morning near his home in a strongly Hasidic area, the New Square village in Rockland County.

Dominique Strauss-Kahn has resigned from the International Monetary Fund.

It comes after the former IMF chief was accused of sexual assault by a hotel maid in Manhattan. He was arrested and taken to Riker's Island jail. He is set to appear in court on Friday.

The French politician, 62, said in a statement that he was leaving to "protect the institution."
