Police charge boy over cemetery desecration

Manchester police have charged a 13-year-old boy with criminal damage after 50 graves in a Jewish cemetery were vandalised.

The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, will appear before Manchester and Salford Youth Court on August 8. The charges do not include any racially aggravated element. Greater Manchester Police said a second 13-year-old boy remains on bail until Wednesday.

'Hate' in Amnesty email

Amnesty International has been accused of sending out an email "filled with hate, lies, distorted facts and misrepresentation of reality" by a relative of one of the 3 Israeli teenagers murdered on the West Bank last month, after its UK crisis campaigns manager appealed to supporters to lobby against arms sales to Israel.

Israel backed by thousands at London rally

Kensington High Street was awash with Israeli flags as British Jews demonstrated their support at a Zionist Federation (ZF) rally on Sunday.

An estimated 5,000 people - from children to grandparents – showed their solidarity, singing Am Yisrael Chai and the Hatikvah and holding aloft placards demanding an end to Hamas terrorism.

Paris shul attacked with rocks

A synagogue in Paris came under siege last night during an anti-Israel protest.

Hundreds of congregants were attending a gathering for peace inside Synagogue de la Roquette when the building was attacked by demonstrators.

The attackers, numbering in the hundreds, had been on a march to Bastille Square, but broke off from the main protest to assault the shul.

Swastika daubed on Hendon house

Vandals have painted antisemitic graffiti on a Jewish home in Hendon.

An image of a swastika was daubed above the front door of a property on Sunday night.

The Community Security Trust, which monitors antisemitism,said: “We are aware of the graffiti and we are working with the police on all reported incidents of antisemitism.”

'Zionist' editor accused of inciting jihad

The editor of a Jewish newspaper was bombarded with antisemitic abuse after being falsely accused of stirring up jihadi activity in a bizarre case of mistaken identity.

Richard Ferrer, editor of London's Jewish News, was targeted because users of a Muslim website believed he had posted a message "pledging allegiance to the caliphate".

Lib Dems say sorry over anti-Israel post

The Liberal Democrat Party has apologised after its Friends of Palestine group again posted antisemitic material on Facebook.

The group linked to a piece by antisemitic Israeli musician Gilad Atzmon which claimed "the time is ripe to cleanse British public life of Zionists and Jerusalemites".

Mr Atzmon's article referred to Ed Miliband's speech to Labour Friends of Israel last month.
