Nicolas Anelka charged by FA over quenelle gesture

The Football Association has charged the West Bromwich Albion footballer Nicolas Anelka over his quenelle gesture.

In a statement issued this morning, the FA said it was alleged that Anelka "made a gesture which was abusive and/or indecent and/or insulting and/or improper, contrary to FA Rule E3[1]".

Labour MP denies he compared Israel to Nazis in tweet

A Labour MP’s tweet which appeared to compare Israel to the Nazis was “poorly-worded”, the party has admitted.

Grahame Morris posted a message on Sunday showing what appeared to be a group of protesters waving an Israeli flag.

Alongside it he wrote: “Nazis in my village - do you see the flag they fly.”

Zoopla pulls West Bromwich sponsorship over Anelka

Property website Zoopla has said it will end its £3-million shirt sponsorship deal with West Bromwich Albion football club over Nicolas Anelka's quenelle gesture.

In a statement released this afternoon, Zoopla said the sponsorship would cease at the end of the current season in May.

Zoopla threaten to pull West Brom sponsorship over Anelka

Online property-search company Zoopla has threatened to cancel it £3 million shirt sponsorship deal with West Bromwich Albion football club over Nicolas Anelka's quenelle gesture.

According to the trade publication Marketing Week, Zoopla said it would cancel the arrangement immediately if the player is selected for tonight's Premier League match against Everton.

Harlow MP Robert Halfon told the Commons that the wall, put up at St James’s Piccadilly, for last month’s Bethlehem Unwrapped exhibition, had undermined religious tolerance.

Kick It Out threatens JC over Anelka

Kick It Out, the organisation charged with tackling racism in football, reacted to concerns over its failure to condemn Nicolas Anelka’s quenelle gesture by threatening to take legal action against the JC.

The newspaper had questioned the group’s commitment to fighting antisemitism in the game in an article published last Thursday.
