Amy Winehouse's father Mitch to write memoir

Amy Winehouse's father will release a biography of the singer next year.

Mitch Winehouse revealed on Monday that he had signed a book deal to tell the true story of his daughter's life and career.

The book, described as "a heartfelt and revelatory memoir" will be published by It Books next summer, a year after the death of the 27-year-old singer.

The Amy Winehouse Foundation has been set up by her father Mitch, who has previously advised the government on drug policy.

The Jewish singer, who died last month at the age of 27, had fought a high profile battle with addiction for several years.

But despite speculation about an overdose, a family spokesman said toxicology tests ruled out illegal drugs as a cause of death.

Our nonsense detector began vibrating wildly when the Daily Mirror reported that Amy Winehouse could not have an Orthodox funeral unless her tattoos were removed.

Simply not true, says United Synagoue burial head Melvyn Hartog. "Halachically, you are not supposed to have tattoos," he explains. "But you also must be buried whole. Having a tattoo doesn't affect you having a Jewish burial at all.
